25-26 President’s Welcome Letter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 school year! My name is Stacy Ashley Murphy and I’m the president of the Vocal Music Parent Association (VMPA). If you’re reading this, your child is part of the nationally recognized vocal music program at Westside High School! For those of you who are new to the program, VMPA is a parent organization formed to support the vocal music program. As a parent or guardian of a student in the choir program, you are automatically members of VMPA!
This year, we have some major changes to our program. Mr. Greg Woodin is now the Performing Arts Department Chair, and we welcomed Mr. Andrew Jacobson. Mr. Jacobson came from several years leading the choirs at Lincoln Southwest. He brings with him a talent for musical arranging, lots of energy, and some great ideas to keep our Westside choirs strong and running smoothly.
As the VMPA, our primary activities are to assist the directors in promoting and providing support for all choirs and show choirs at Westside. Throughout the year, we are tasked with providing assistance with rehearsals, concerts, team-building activities, and various fundraising initiatives. VMPA also provides financial support to the entire vocal music program.
Along with our two major fundraisers–Cabaret, our vocal variety show held in early November and Competition of Excellence, our show choir invitational held in January–VMPA gladly accepts monetary donations anytime through Hall of F.A.M.E. (Fund for Attaining Musical Excellence). This year, we are also introducing Corporate Choir, our new corporate sponsorship opportunities. All donations are tax-deductible and used to support the vocal music program in a variety of ways.
My personal goal for this year is to help make https://www.westsidechoirs.com/ the hub for all things Westside Choirs. It’s a work in progress! I hope to see you show choir parents this Sunday at Show Choir and Sundaes at 2:30 pm in the gym. And I look forward to meeting all of you throughout the year and sharing in what I know will be another tremendous year for the vocal music program at Westside.
Thank you,
